Night of Champions 2009

WWE Diva's Championship Match
Mickie James VS. Maryse (©)

Jesse: Woohoo Mickie (thunder thighs) James is still around. I'm not really sure about Maryse, so I'll go with Mickie.
Winner: Mickie James

Morgan: Short and sweet, Maryse. Although I really don't care who wins.
Winner: Maryse

Andy: This match is pretty straight forward: Maryse has held the belt for a very long time and therefore she will lose. Mickie James is the new Diva's Champion even though I think she is bit mannish for a diva. And would it kill someone to give Kelly Kelly a shot at the title?
Winner: Mickie James

Devin: This match is not one that I really care about. I have watched this develop and the hair spray to the eyes was really dumb. If you're going to blind side someone at least make sure they are going to live to fight another day. Simply based on that alone I will take Mickie. Also, Maryse for some reason has Miz on her side and after being put in his place at The Bash I don't think I would side with him. I just wish Mickie could get original and stop acting like Trish Stratus.
Winner: Mickie James

Jon: This shouldn't be too bad for a women's match. Maryse is very very attractive and Mickie has some good wrestling ability. Maryse has gotten the better of Mickie the past couple weeks with a win in a tag match and the hairspray incident this past week on Raw. Seen how I think Michelle McCool will win the other women's match, I'm going with the face in this one.
Winner: Mickie James

Lonnie: I think this match might have the best build for any women's match in recent memory. This match has been set up for over a month with Maryse acting like she does not want to fight Mickie because she thinks she can't beat her. In what I think will actually be a good wrestling match I think Mickie will win. But if she does not for some reason I doubt she would lose clean so at least a rematch could take place at SummerSlam.
Winner: Mickie James

John Bob: I'm suprised this feud has been as good as it has. Maryse continues to get the upper hand which makes me think that Mickie is finally going to win the belt. Besides, Maryse has been champion for over 200 days.
Winner: Mickie James

Unified Tag Team Championship Match
Mystery Partner & Chris Jericho (©) VS. Legacy

Jesse: I'm never going to pick against Chris Jericho and a mystery partner.
Winners: Chris Jericho & Mystery Partner

Morgan: I like a little mystery, even if I don't like Chris Jericho. Plus I don't like Legacy. So Jericho and his mystery partner.
Winners: Chris Jericho & Mystery Partner

Andy: So I was wrong about Legacy completely owning the last pay-per-view at The Bash. However, I still think this time Legacy will win the tag titles and all members will be wearing gold on Monday for Raw.
Winners: Legacy

Devin: I am going to take Chris Jericho and his mystery partner. Legacy one isn't able to do their usual working out of a game plan because they have no idea who they are facing. Also, Legacy has this strong bromance going on and I'm not sure they can really focus on winning a match. The message I am getting is Legacy is nothing without Orton. So why the hell would they win the tag team championship. Also why is it them in this match. Why not like Cryme Tyme or an actual tag team that doesn't double as flunkies during the week. Legacy needs some new members or need to do something more than act as Randy Orton's body gay body guards.
Winners: Chris Jericho & Mystery Partner

Jon: There are a couple ways this could go down. Legacy could beat the crap out of Jericho because he won't find a partner and he will lose a 2-on-1 match. Jericho could also get a decent partner like Kane and squash Legacy. If Jericho were to get Kane I could see Khali coming and distracting Kane though. If the WWE is smart, they will let Jericho lose the titles and keep him in singles wrestling where he belongs. He is too big of a star to be hid away in the tag division.
Winners: Legacy

Lonnie: Well I thought Legacy was going to win the titles last month and they lost so I am going to say they lose again here. While I would like to see them win I just do not think it is going to happen as they are most likely be used to fight whoever is Orton's opponent that month. Also, with the tag team champions being able to be on all shows, I feel it is more valuable to have Jericho on multiple shows. Jericho has been gold recently in everything that he does and I do not see that changing here.
Winners: Chris Jericho & Mystery Partner

John Bob: I'm interested in this match as I want to see who Jericho ends up picking for a partner. I also wouldn't be suprised if Jericho says no one is worthy of being his partner and he fights the match alone. No matter what, I think Legacy gets the win against Jericho in a handicap match or by pinning his partner. Either way, Jericho should remain credible.
Winners: Legacy

WWE Women's Championship Match
Melina VS. Michelle McCool (©)

Jesse: Please give me one reason why there is 2 womens matches? And also tell me why anybody should care? Thank you WWE.
Winner: Michelle McCool

Morgan: Another womens championship match, yay. I'll go with McCool, even if her name is McFail.
Winner: Michelle McCool

Andy: I think Michelle McCool's title reign is intended to be a short one just because I don't think she is as good of a wrestler as Melina.
Winner: Melina

Devin: Wait a minute didn't I just talk about this match. O that's right they have another women's title. I know sex sells but come on, the divas line up is about as deep as a kiddy pool. Also they are sub par at best and since when do we reward mediocrity? Well bad question answer to that one is William Hung and his album that people actually bought. Still it's pretty sad when I'm viewing title matches as filler matches. Michelle McCool wins cause it's her first title defense and she would still be the coolest teacher ever.
Winner: Michelle McCool

Jon: Michelle McCool beat Melina at The Bash in a decent match. I expect these two to put on another good match with Michelle McCool, once again, picking up the victory.
Winner: Michelle McCool

Lonnie: So we are getting a rematch of the championship match that happened last month. I do not see Melina winning here for the sole fact that rematches for championships are rarely successful. Also, with no real build there is no reason for a title change.
Winner: Michelle McCool

John Bob: Michelle just got the belt and I don't think she'll lose it this soon. I can't even remember the last time there was two womens matches on one card.
Winner: Michelle McCool

ECW Championship Match
Tommy Dreamer (©) VS. Christian

Jesse: Tommy Dreamer is really still champ? What is wrong with this pay-per-view? I'm dreading watching it. I think I would rather get a root canal.
Winner: Christian

Morgan: Christian. I refuse to think Dreamer will hold on to it. My theory of eventual failure for Tommy Dreamer will happen soon. Sunday actually. Go Christian.
Winner: Christian

Andy: I give up on using any logic for trying to pick the ECW title match. It's my Toss-Up Match of the Night presented by who gives a damn. Heads is Dreamer, tails is Christian. It's heads and Tommy Dreamer with the win.
Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Devin: Great another sub par title but still at least one of the wrestlers is good. Dear Lord let Christian win and we never have to see Tommy Dreamer again. He is an old, out of shape, horrible wrestler, and only good for hitting people with things. This run I could possibly be considered up there Watson and the British open. Old guy wins but finishes second because he chokes under the pressure. The day Tommy Dreamer finally retires will be a glorious day and lets hope its this day because it would make this pay-per-view.
Winner: Christian

Jon: This is the kind of stuff that makes me love UFC. Tommy Dreamer wouldn't last 2 minutes if this was for real. I am a proud member of the peepulation and will be pulling for Christian. Now I think they will let Dreamer hang onto the title here but if I were to pick Dreamer and Christian win, I would never be able to forgive myself. Christian is faster, stronger, and better. But who knows anything can happen in the WWE. The thing is, what if some jerk like Kozlov or somewhat likes that comes and interferes. I don't care though.
Winner: Christian

Lonnie: With SummerSlam right around the corner Christian has to win here. I mean, does anyone really want to see Tommy be defending the championship on the second biggest pay-per-view of the year? In addition, this match has rules. Meaning, that Dreamer cannot go wild with weapons and have a chance of winning. Here is to hoping for a short match......
Winner: Christian

John Bob: Ok folks...it's time to get the title off of Tommy. Seriously? He is not championship material. The title should return to its rightful owner. Then, hopefully Christian can face Shelton at SummerSlam. I think that would be a good match.
Winner: Christian

Six Pack Challenge for the WWE United States Championship
Kofi Kingston (©) VS. Montel Vontavious Porter VS. Carlito VS. The Miz VS. Jack Swagger VS. Big Show

Jesse: So I decided to just put everybodys name in a hat to pick the winner of this match. The first time I picked I got The Miz, and just by common sense I knew that was dumb. So I picked again and I got Kofi. So there you go.
Winner: Kofi Kingston

Morgan: Going with my boy MVP. I like Kofi, but MVP.
Winner: Montel Vontavious Porter

Andy: Let's run down the list shall we. Big Show puts a new meaning into the phrase "The Biggest Loser" every time he trudges into the ring. Carlito will probably take a bite of his apple and choke on the damn thing because he can't do anything better with his life. The Miz did, does, and will always absolutely suck. Jack Swagger's weight is probably higher than his lifetime winning percentage, and I'm pretty sure Kofi Kingston snuck across the border to get into the country. That means MVP will be the new United States Champion.
Winner: Montel Vontavious Porter

Devin: This is by far the hardest match of the night to pick. But after weighing all the options I have to go with Kofi Kingston. MVP is currently going through another losing streak, Carlito is to busy fighting with his brother, Miz is a loser whose only good for making jokes, Jack Swagger is still trying to figure out whether he has a speech impediment or not, and Big Show not only has a record of losing pay-per-view matches but also will be never be allowed by the best of the guys to win. That leaves Kofi Kingston to win but I don't know so it should be interesting.
Winner: Kofi Kingston

Jon: Let me just say I love Kofi Kingston. I love his accent, his wrestling ability, and his entrance music. The guys got the whole package. The way I see it, MVP and Swagger will take each other out of the match, Primo will come down and mess with Carlito, The Miz sucks, and Big Show is Big Show and will probably get nailed by Evan Bourne for not breaking that stupid submission he does. Kofi is incredible and will walk out with the U.S. Title mon!
Winner: Kofi Kingston

Lonnie: Well, MVP, Swagger, and Kingston are the only ones I think even have a prayer of winning this match. That being said, I think MVP or Swagger will win so that they can continue to feud for the belt as they would make a very good match for SummerSlam. I am not sure who to pick but I will go with....
Winner: Jack Swagger

John Bob: I think only two people have a chance of winning this thing. That would be Kofi or Swagger. Big Show won't win since he got to dominate everyone on Raw. MVP hasn't done anything important since he lost the title and Carlito is too busy dealing with Primo since he turned on him. Kofi's stock could really rise if he wins this match. I don't think I'll ever pick The Miz again since he didn't come through for me against Cena. I really like Swagger and I think it would be cool to have "The All-American, American" as the United States Champion but I think we'll have to wait for it. Kofi gets the win in a close one.
Winner: Kofi Kingston

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler VS. Rey Mysterio (©)

Jesse: Picking Rey to piss off Lonnie.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

Morgan: Mysterio will hold it.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

Andy: "Hi, I'm Dol...it doesn't matter what your name is!!!" You can count on Rey Mysterio to win at a pay-per-view just as much as John Cena. Mysterio wins in my face victory of the night and continues to crush the spirit of my roommate.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

Devin: Dolph Ziggler is on a roll and I hate Rey Mysterio. Enough said.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Jon: Alright, this is the toughest match of the night for me to pick. I have loved going over to John Bob's to watch the pay-per-views and see Lonnie get upset over the Mysterio victories. Also, it would make Jericho look weak if he couldn't beat Mysterio but some dude named Dolph could. However, the WWE is really pushing Dolph hard. Dolph, being the heel could use the ropes and do a number of things to win this match. It could go either way but I'm sticking with Rey as he has come through for me so many times.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

Lonnie: "Hi, I'm Dolph Ziggler, Intercontinental Champion."
Winner: Dolph Ziggler

John Bob: I really like Dolph and I'm glad to see him getting a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. While I wouldn't be suprised if Dolph pulled it out, I think Rey will hold on to the belt a little longer since he just got it back. I fully expect Dolph to eventually get his hands on the belt though.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

World Heavyweight Championship Match
CM Punk (©) VS. Jeff Hardy

Jesse: Hey look a decent match on the pay-per-view. I really don't think the WWE is still trusting enough of Jeff to give him the belt, so therefore the winner will be CM Punk.
Winner: CM Punk

Morgan: CM Punk. Again, I have never liked either of the Hardy brothers. CM Punk will retain.
Winner: CM Punk

Andy: So Jeff Hardy wins the match at The Bash but it's by DQ so he doesn't win the title. What's up with that? Jeff Hardy will finish the job and become the new champion for a brief amount of time in my upset of the night (even if the title belt looks way too big around his waist).
Winner: Jeff Hardy

Devin: I must repeat myself again but Jeff Hardy should never be champ. But this time I have another reason for choosing CM Punk. Driving back from work and listening to the radio a WWE advertisement comes on and we all know how it goes. The deep but oddly excited voice comes on and states the main event match and gives all the info for tickets. Well the main event match for SmackDown here in Baltimore at the end of the month is CM Punk defending his belt in a cage match against Jeff Hardy. (I'm currently interning in Baltimore) So unless CM Punk loses his belt and gets it back with in a week, Jeff has no chance. My biggest fear is the CM Punk gets disqualified again and gives the match to Jeff. Thus, messing me up again and making me right and wrong.
Winner: CM Punk

Jon: Once again it is the straightedge all around good guy vs. the commonly suspended Jeff Hardy. Now the last book in the Bible is the book of Revelations where God shows the disciple John what will happen when Jesus comes back and the world ends. In the end, God defeats the devil. I expect good to overcome evil here. Maybe a DQ again, but CM Punk leaves with the title.
Winner: CM Punk

Lonnie: According to CM Punk, I should walk away from my vices. Therefore I am never going to lose another match as losing is a vice I can do without. If the WWE trusted Jeff Hardy as the champion, he would have had a longer title reign one of the first two times he had the belt. So, CM Punk will hang on to the championship here and carry the belt to SummerSlam where he needs to try and legitimize himself against someone really good like a returning Undertaker. (At least I can hope)
Winner: CM Punk

John Bob: CM Punk has been awesome on the mic and his heel turn is working perfectly. He is the perfect example of a classic heel. The fans have no choice but to listen to him because he tells the truth. I have enjoyed how he has exploited Jeff's drug and rehab problems. Punk is on the roll of his career and there is no reason to cut it short now. Punk should win here in relatively clean fashion and then move on to SummerSlam where I'm hoping he can face John Morrison, who owns two clean pinfall victories over Punk.
Winner: CM Punk

Triple Threat Match Match for the WWE Championship
John Cena VS. Randy Orton (©) VS. Triple H

Jesse: I hate all three of these guys. They really are the 3 reasons why WWE is sucking right now. They are all boring and have no mic skills. Maybe somehow the match will start and all three will amazingly just disappear into oblivion only to be found 50 years later in a wrestling ring, so I don't have to deal with them.
Winner: John Cena

Morgan: For my birthday, what I want is Orton to lose. Cena will win. I actually don't care as long as Orton doesn't win. So John Cena, please give me my WWE birthday gift, win.
Winner: John Cena

Andy: Believe it or not, John Cena will not win this match. He is 5-2 in pay-per-view matches this year which translates to a 71% winning percentage. The only reason he is in this match is because the WWE cannot afford to leave him off a pay-per-view card. I still believe that the WWE wants all members of Legacy to hold championships at the same time so I'm going with Orton in my heel victory of the night.
Winner: Randy Orton

Devin: Alright the main event, and yet another tough decision. Orton in my mind is going to lose which I am pumped about. (In your face John) But who to take Cena or Triple H? I'm going to take Cena because he is the man and Triple H is old. Also, Cena hasn't lost a match since Big Show put him through that sky light. Triple H's body I believe is done and Cena needs a nice gold belt to go with his green and gold John Deere color scheme. May the Age of Orton end and Legacy become a bunch kids who couldn't fit the shoes of those who came before them. Orton may want to consider some better body guards and a new psychologist to help him with the depression he will be going into after realizing he will not be as successful as his dad.
Winner: John Cena

Jon: This is funny, last night I was talking to John Bob and said I was for sure taking Orton. However, last night I had a dream of Cena winning by rolling Orton up. Maybe it was because of what happened on Raw Monday night. I don't know, but my heart has always been with Cena and even if I go with Orton and Cena wins I will be happy. I like all three of these guys, they are great all around whether it be wrestling or on the mic. They are different but they do what they do very well. Another verse in the Bible talks about how you should think things out and not just go on your heart because your heart can be deceived.
Winner: Randy Orton

Lonnie: Well Orton lost in the only clean finish in a Raw main event that I can remember this year. Therefore he is going to win this Sunday. Cena and HHH shaking hands just shows that they are too concerned with beating the crap out of Orton, then on Sunday Orton will somehow win. Cena and HHH will have a break down in their relationship setting up a match between them at SummerSlam while Orton can go on to a new opponent. Someone with talent like HBK would be nice.
Winner: Randy Orton

John Bob: I am one of the biggest Orton fans that there is but even I don't like his chances in this match. I'm just hoping and praying that Triple H doesn't win. I can live with a Cena win but not Triple H. I'm also tired to all three of these guys fighting each other in the title picture. No matter who wins, we need a fresh face in the title scene next month. My brain says to go with Cena but my heart is making me take Orton. Hey...no one thought he would win at WrestleMania XXIV and he did. He could do it again giving everyone in Legacy a title at the end of the night.
Winner: Randy Orton
