Judgment Day 2009

ECW Championship Match
Christian (©) VS. Jack Swagger

Jesse: Ok I have to say it, Jack Swagger has impressed me a little bit. Don't know what it is but he's not half bad. Too bad he won't win this match.
Winner: Christian

Devin: It seems to me that this match for this sub par championship is going to be good oddly enough. I expect both Christian and Swagger to have their moments but it's never a good idea to bet against a newly crowned champion especially in a rematch. The rematch clause is just an excuse used by the WWE repeat a good match. As long as I have been watching, I can't remember a person getting back their championship on a rematch clause. Also, Swagger has gotten more annoying with his high pitch voice. Maybe he will cry next time; that might be entertaining or at least more entertaining than him trying to talk smack. He needs to watch some Ali videos or something.
Winner: Christian

Jon: I was happy to see they let Christian win the title at Backlash. After watching ECW, I really felt they were giving Kozlov a push. A win and an interview right before the Peep Show. I really feel like they are giving him a push next to challenge for the ECW title. This should be a great match; Christian wins.
Winner: Christian

Lonnie: At Backlash, Christian was able to top of his comeback by capturing the ECW Championship. Swagger gets his rematch at Judgment Day but will not prevail. While Swagger is a new and upcoming superstar, I just cannot see him getting the win over Christian right away. Swagger already had a good run with the belt and if the WWE wanted him to be champion there was no reason for him to lose at Backlash. Christian got the upper hand this past week on ECW and that will carry over here as he will probably win in a closely contested match that sees Swagger almost win but the Peepulation winning.
Winner: Christian

John Bob: I must say I've enjoyed every match these two have had with each other. I expect this one to be good as well since it should get a decent amount of time (since there's only six matches on the card). Tommy Dreamer will probably get a match against the winner so he can go for the belt one last time before he retires. This would make you think there needs to be a heel champ. I don't see that happening though. I believe Christian will retain here and there will end up being a triple threat match at Extreme Rules with Dreamer and Swagger being the challengers.
Winner: Christian

Shelton Benjamin VS. John Morrison

Jesse: Woohoo we get to pick a match that should be on Heat. Shelton really has all the talent in the world. I'm not sure why he hasn't done more with his career. Oh well, he can't match John Morrison's awesomeness.
Winner: John Morrison

Devin: Why the heck is this match being thrown into Judgment Day at the last minute? It should be a good match but still who really cares. Morrison is a self absorbed loser who has been able to hack it with out The Miz (Don't ask me how cause the only thing good about The Miz is that he is from Cincinnati) and Shelton Benjamin has resorted to dying his hair blonde to get attention. I didn't even know this whole rivalry was going on. I guess there is some history but really who cares; there is no title, no stipulations, no special guest, and no nothing. Just a normal straight up match for bragging rights I guess. I read the website and still don't know who to choose. And so I guess I have to flip a coin. Heads Benjamin; tails Morrison. The coin came up heads. I guess I gotta go with Benjamin.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Jon: This is Morrison's first pay-per-view match since he got drafted to SmackDown, I believe. Both of these guys are great wrestlers and this could very well be one of the best matches of the night. Morrison just got drafted to SmackDown and is, in my opinion, a main event type wrestler. Maybe not yet but he definitely has that potential. Benjamin has been bouncing back and forth between the two shows for a while and they really haven't done anything with him despite him being a great, entertaining wrestler. So I am taking Morrison in a great match.
Winner: John Morrison

Lonnie: In a match that was announced at the last minute, we get two of the most talented superstars in the company. I doubt this match will get the time that is needed to make this a great match, but none the less it should be very entertaining and unique. I see Morrison winning here as he is the star in the making with his recent split from The Miz and his move to SmackDown. I see Morrison making a title push by the end of this year hopefully.
Winner: John Morrison

John Bob: I thought this was match that was going to be added last week. Instead, it gets added at the last minute. I don't like this because it makes the match seem less important and as if it was just thrown together. Regardless, I have no doubt that these two can have a good to great match. Lets just hope they get the right amount of time to showcase their athletic ability. I think it could go either way. I'm going to go with Shelton since Morrison has recently beat Benjamin in a one-on-one match and in a tag match. There is also the fact that Charlie Haas may give Shelton a little assistance.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Rey Mysterio (©) VS. Chris Jericho

Jesse: Yes, finally a decent match. This will take match of the night without a doubt. Now let me fill you in on some insight, Lonnie hates Rey Mysterio. And by hate I mean he can't stand him. I don't know why, but he does. So that is the reason that I'm selecting him to win the match, just to piss off Lonnie. Your welcome!
Winner: Rey Mysterio

Devin: Firstly, let me begin by saying I don't like either Jericho or Mysterio. Truthfully, this is a toss up to me because I don't care and I don't get SmackDown at my house. So I don't even see Mysterio wrestle or follow him. Though I thought I had spotted him a Raw earlier this week but then I got closer and realized it was a little kid. I'm going with Jericho because he has been on a pay-per-view winning streak and he seems to be good at beating smaller, weaker opponents. Also, Jericho needs a belt to be credible these days. His talk is barely worth anything but with a belt he should gain some credibility. Also, Mysterio caused JBL to leave. Maybe JBL returns with a vengeance and screws Rey over. That would be sweet. Then he tells Mysterio that he wants to see his green card and to go work in his fields for him. (I am in no way endorsing racism like this but this is something JBL would say)
Winner: Chris Jericho

Jon: This should be a great match. I know my good friend Lonnie will have his eyes glued to the set to see the amazing wrestler that is Rey Mysterio. This is the toughest match on the card for me to call. Jericho has had a great ability to steal a match somehow, whether by using the ropes or doing something behind the refs back. Despite that, I am taking Mysterio by the flip of a coin.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

Lonnie: For reasons I really do not want to go into, I HATE REY! From his stupid mask, to his wrestling style, to using Eddie's death to get a World Heavyweight Championship reign. I just do not like the man. Hopefully!!! Jericho can add to the history books and regain the Intercontinental Championship.
Winner: Chris Jericho

John Bob: If the Intercontinental Championship wasn't on the line, I'd be going to Jericho. However, I have to go with Rey since the belt is up for grabs. Personally, I think Jericho is "above" the Intercontinental title and winning it wouldn't do anything for him since he already holds the record for most reigns with the belt. Therefore, I see Rey getting a clean pin or Jericho getting disqualified leading to a Rey win.
Winner: Rey Mysterio

CM Punk VS. Umaga

Jesse: I didn't even know that Umaga was still around. I just had a flash back, does everyone remember 3 Minute Warning? Hey they should get back together then maybe they could actually put a tag match on the card instead of this crap. Let's hope this isn't the only match CM Punk gets involved in.
Winner: CM Punk

Devin: Well this match is also somewhat of a toss up. CM Punk has been losing lately and Umaga has just returned. Hrm..what would I do if I wanted a returning superstar to gain back some popularity? Let's put him in a match and against a current superstar that is fairly popular and have him win. There is also the fact that I think they're trying to turn the briefcase into a curse or something. I think CM Punk is going to lose when he cashes in that case again. Also, CM Punk is not strong enough to do his finisher to Umaga. What happened the last time he couldn't do his finisher to a wrestler at a pay-per-view? He lost and I would expect no different here. If CM Punk had a chair or weapon then I would say Punk wins, but this is a straight up match and CM Punk can't match up to Umaga's strength. Maybe CM Punk needs a new finisher or take some lessons from John Cena on how to lift oversized, heavy loads. Maybe even a lifting belt or something.
Winner: Umaga

Jon: CM Punk was 2 seconds away from cashing in and fighting Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship. As long as the WWE is smart, they won't have their money in the bank winner losing 2 pay-per-views in a row to mid card guys. This will be a good match to keep CM Punk credible before he actually does cash in at some point.
Winner: CM Punk

Lonnie: After his astonishing loss to Kane last month, CM Punk is in my doghouse. I mean he wins at WrestleMania when I do not pick him; then, he loses to Kane of all people at Backlash when I do pick him. So based on that theory I will miss this no matter what. All of that aside, Umaga is returning and keeps getting the upper hand on Punk. I would pick Umaga because it is his return match, but I think Punk wins here for two reasons. First, as money in the bank, he cannot keep losing matches but keep trying to cash in for the title because if he gets lucky and becomes champ he will look weak. Secondly, Judgment Day is in Punk's hometown of Chicago and I can see him winning this match early and come out later to win the World Heavyweight Championship which he could not do if Umaga destroys him.
Winner: CM Punk

John Bob: This will be Umaga's first pay-per-view appearance since One Night Stand last year. Thus, one would think he would win. However, one needs to remember that this pay-per-view is taking place in CM Punk's hometown of Chicago. Punk needs to win to build momentum after his unexpected loss to Kane at Backlash. Umaga could go crazy and lose by disqualification to stay strong. No matter how it happens, I believe CM Punk needs the win more than Umaga at this point in time.
Winner: CM Punk

John Cena VS. Big Show

Jesse: HOLY CRAP WWE. DO SOMETHING WE HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE.
Winner: Big Show

Devin: This match pains me because I'm choosing Big Show. Cena is not 100% and like a man, he is showing up to take his beating. Cena says he going through tough times like the rest of America, but America has been experiencing tough times and if he is going to have tough times like America he is going to have a long year. I see Cena getting injured again. I can't stand Big Show but he is finally going to win a pay-per-view match. This pay-per-view is going to be depressing.
Winner: Big Show

Jon: The Big Show cost Cena the title and has been getting the better of him since Backlash. Cena will probably get dominated some more since he is "hurt". However, I think he will pull it out in the end. Cena's career has been him overcoming odds and here is another example. They need to keep Cena credible regardless of what they plan on doing with him.
Winner: John Cena

Lonnie: So this started with WrestleMania then really took off at Backlash with the Big Show (a Raw superstar) killing Cena (a Raw superstar) to help Edge (a SmackDown superstar) win the World Heavyweight Championship. First off, this makes no sense at all to me as the Big Show hurt his odds of becoming a champion by doing this. Anyways, I love how The Miz has played his role in the storyline and how Cena has been great at playing injured (despite Big Show's attack two weeks ago looking awful). I was thinking that Big Show was going to win, but this past week on Raw Cena guaranteed that he was going to win in his backstage interview. Because of that I feel there is no way that Cena will have to eat his words and lose. Plus, isn't it time for Orton-Cena to start feuding until SummerSlam?
Winner: John Cena

John Bob: This is the match I feel unsure about. After recently researching Big Show's pay-per-view record, I discovered that he is terrible in big match situations. On the other hand, Cena seems to always rise to the occasion. I see this being no different. Cena will pick up the win here and they will have a final match at Extreme Rules with some kind of stipulation.
Winner: John Cena

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Jeff Hardy VS. Edge (©)

Jesse: Too bad they couldn't make this a TLC match and include Matt Hardy and Christian. There is probably no way in hell that Jeff wins this match after all Edge went through last month to win the belt. So Edge all the way.
Winner: Edge

Devin: I can't stand Jeff Hardy, and I have said and will say again, "Jeff Hardy should never ever be World Heavyweight Champion". He is a glorified stunt man. Nothing more, nothing less. Edge is going to take advantage of Hardy's risky style and Jeff will take himself out. Jeff won the championship in a triple threat match. There is no way he would have won that match if it was a head-to-head match. Edge has a crazy streak in him too so the extremeness of Hardy shouldn't matter much. This is also another SmackDown match, so I haven't followed Edge or Hardy so I really have no clue. Still, I am willing to bet that Hardy finally uses those dumb hand guns he makes and commits suicide (not literally) in this match. Edge never needed Vickie and this match is where he is going to prove it. Thank the lord there won't be another Vickie and Edge kiss after this match. Ratings drop when these two are in the ring. I still want a Christian vs. Edge match. ECW Championship vs. World Heavyweight Championship match. It would be an instant classic.
Winner: Edge

Jon: Edge should win this match. Edge is a great champion and he keeps things interesting. Who could ever forget when we were introduced to Hawkins and Ryder when he used them as clones. Priceless. Edge is SmackDown right now. They could be setting up Edge for a feud with Undertaker or Jericho but Hardy has no business winning this match. The only way he does is if Edge gets disqualified.
Winner: Edge

Lonnie: Without Vickie, everyone is getting to see how great Edge is on his own. And to me, the time since the draft has gone to prove how great Edge is and how annoying Vickie is. As far as Edge's feud with Jeff, I really think it is just short term and meant to buy time for CM Punk to be able to win the championship in his hometown. If Jeff was meant to have the championship and the company really trusted him, which they obviously do not, he would have been able to keep the title the last time that he won it and took it to WrestleMania. By hook or crook, I see Edge leaving with his championship and becoming the first one to retain the World Heavyweight Championship this year.
Winner: Edge

John Bob: First, I have to say that I'm not a big fan of Jeff Hardy. I know he's popular with the kids and his merchandise sells like crazy. I believe it's those very reasons why Jeff is in this match. Lets face the facts though, he hasn't had many great one-on-one matches where there were no stipulations. His best ones came against Triple H over the last year. Not to mention, Jeff will be over with kids no matter how many matches he loses. For those reasons, I think Edge is the man to go with on SmackDown for a while until CM Punk is built up as a credible threat to the belt.
Winner: Edge

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (©) VS. Batista

Jesse: Oh great, it feels like we have seen this before. Oh wait we have. They really need to do something to get HHH, Batista, and Orton away from each other. It's getting dumb. HHH can only win the title so many times, Batista can only get hurt so many times, and Orton can only bore the crap out of you so many times. Orton will win, but lets all pray that CM Punk decides to cash in his money in the bank.
Winner: Randy Orton

Devin: This match should be good but I don't see it being finished with a pin. Someone is going to get disqualified and Orton will still be champ. Legacy is, after all, made up of two butt buddies and a psycho path. If Batista wasn't as dumb as a box of rocks I would choose him, but he is like 0-3 against Legacy (all by disqualification) in the last 3 weeks and I don't see him turning it around at Judgment Day. He going is to lose his temper again and get disqualified. Orton may get disqualified to hold on to his title though, because after all he is a punk who runs for his life every time he starts to lose. Orton is going to be out for revenge after the match and Batista may be in for a chair shot and a field goal. Man, I got some depressing picks. Anyhow, Batista continues to be his own worse enemy and loses thus continuing Legacy as a force on Raw. The McMahons are going to come back and destroy Legacy. I can't wait for that to happen because that is the only way Orton is going to lose the belt.
Winner: Randy Orton

Jon: The Animal is back. He is relentless. He is powerful. He is going to lose. I am pulling for Orton big time here. MVP has really been getting a push lately on Raw. MVP and Orton had a great match on Raw a couple weeks ago and it appears the WWE is going to give MVP a title shot after Orton beats Batista here. That will be a title match I am looking forward to. Orton may get disqualified but he is keeping the belt regardless.
Winner: Randy Orton

Lonnie: Isn't it refreshing to not have Triple H in a championship match? Don't get me wrong, he is a great wrestler, but every once in a while variety is nice. With Triple H gone the focus should be totally on Batista, but Shane continues to be in the storyline and takes away from Batista. I think this storyline would be better if Batista could have run through Legacy by himself and prove he is "The Animal". When looking for future opponents for Orton if he wins, I do not see anyone besides maybe MVP but he is fighting Regal. This leads me to believe that this feud between Orton and Batista will continue and that they will have a stipulation match at Extreme Rules. I think there is no way that Randy will lose the belt, but I would be willing to bet on him to lose the match.
Winner: Batista (by DQ due to Legacy interference and Orton will still be champion)

John Bob: So the Age of Orton is back in full swing and Batista gets the first chance to end it. Orton just won the title at Backlash so I don't think there is any way he loses it here. Since Batista got the advantage on the last Raw, I definitely see Orton retaining the title here. Orton will do whatever it takes to defeat Batista and he'll probably get a rematch at Extreme Rules with a stipulation. I'm just wondering when Triple H is going to return since it seems like it could happen at any time now. Also, I don't see Batista winning since Orton is really the only top heel on Raw (I don't consider Big Show a threat to the title). Orton has a bunch of people he can defend his title against (Batista, Triple H, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, etc.). Therefore, Orton will retain by any means necessary and the Age of Orton will continue.
Winner: Randy Orton
